Google Play to Accept Native Android Apps

It’s being reported that as of August, just in time for the return of one of the bookmakers biggest events, the start of The Premier League AKA Football, that Google Play are finally going to allow gambling apps into the UK Store for the first time in seven years.

Since the launch of the Play Store, gambling brands have been restricted to delivering their native Android apps direct from their own websites or independent app stores. This has obviously proved a challenge for some in user acquisition on mobile as the primary route for download in the UK is the Play Store.

For an industry that generated around £4.5bn in revenue during 2016 via online& mobile then being able to offer an Android Application directly to over 50% of the UK smartphone audience will surely see that number rise in 2017.
